Hi there - I'm still here
isn't she lovely, naked?!
It probably was wishful thinking that Donald Trump would be smart and let the overdone Carrie Prejean be tossed back into the fish pond. However, it was not to be.
Apparently her nude "modeling" photos were ever the "21st century and some were lovely" and her response to Perez Hilton's question was the same as our President. That would be President Obama.
Reading through the little news blurb twice to make sure I wasn't reading it incorrectly, Trump actually equates Miss CA's response to that of Obama's.
Pause.
I have to wonder if the hair messes up Trump's hearing or is he really that, well, simple minded?
Perhaps she will find a place in his Celebrity Apprentice franchise next season, right along-side Newt Gingrich.

I read the same thing yesterday regarding Wanda Sykes: she's a lesbian who wants gay marriage and she could have "roasted" Obama about that but strangely didn't mention once that he is against gay marriage. I hadn't thought of that.
prejean; trump; hilton. i wonder what it means for america, for the sorts of things that matter to us, when so many people out there attach significance to anything these people say or do.
Trump is probably the one who leaked the nude (semi) to the press. He's a lot of things, but dumb isn't one of them. You can't buy the kind of publicity he's getting out of this.
Deborah - I don't think he is against gay marriage/legal union more than he is against the federal gov't regulating marriage - it is a state's right.
nanatehay - obession comes to mind. and since we have 24/7 news, filler becomes elevated to news.
Ablonde - yep. But not-dumb and smart are two different things. Trump is business smart, although there are those that would argue with that too. But smart about the rest of the world? Not so much. His world is pretty focused and narrow.

what a moron. she not only did not disclose the photos to begin with - thereby lying, and integrity MIGHT have counted for something.
but after the first was leaked, she lied AGAIN and said that was the only one.
i have no problem with the pics - but for gods sake yes if you are half naked and you lie, you lose your crown.
although, miss america, miss usa, doesnt really mean squat anymore. not like those girls will go on to become anyone, because they get stupider by the day.
i guess next time, a little cocaine use and some threesomes and blowjobs in cars will be ok. it is 2009, after all.

Deborah: Obama is 'against gay marriage' only as it pertains to the word marriage. Obama has stated that he is for overturning the Defense of Marriage Act, and that he is for a federally recognized civil union which have the same legal standing as marriage. Obama' stance and Prejean's stance are miles apart. Don't make the mistake of taking Trump's jerk-off pronouncement as fact.
Trump is one of *MINE*.

And this from the man who threatened to revoke Alicia Machado's Miss Universe crown because she was too fat.
Obama is in favor of civil unions and does not accept the notion of same-sex marriages. Even without reliance on his constant companions, the teleprompters, he was more than clear on this point.
Prejean was not asked about civil unions. But her answer about the marriage issue was substantively identical to Obama's. To deny that is pure sophistry.
Prejean's biggest sin is her beauty. Queens like Perez fear that she'll steal all his prime targets, ugly feminists envy her, and bookish liberals realize that she's a goodie they'll never taste.
The only scandal here is the lack of support of Prejean from organizations like NOW. However, if you compare headshots, you probably have your explanation.

I have tried to figure out why I should care about the opinions of Miss California and I.just.don't.get.it. I bet Miss USA who is not Miss California does not get it either. And who wears a sweater vest of any kind as their only top when on a boat? Who wears a sweater vest at all when on a boat? There is a lot about this story that I just don't understand.
Her picture is pretty. Maybe that is why news organizations like to run it. I'm just saying that Janet Napolitano (sp?) might have something going on trying to deal with guns in Mexico but her picture is not nearly as pretty.

This is all publicity hype.
Ironically, Perez Hilton ensured that Prejean would become a national figure and that her 15-minutes of fame as Miss California would turn into a launchpad for some larger career.
As for Ms. Prejean - she's loving this. She's been plucked from obscurity and thrust where she wants to be - in the limelight.
As for Donald Trump - he's loving it. He's probably thanking his lucky stars for the controversy because if there's one thing that "The Donald" gets off on, it's media attention of any kind.

Janie - I wondered about the lying thing too. That should have nailed it for her, but I guess the buzz wins.
icemilkcoffee - boy, your name makes me want to go make one of those....but I digress. yes, I totally agree.
mm- the guy invented it, eh?
Lew - your post makes a good point about VW.
1IM - now that is a good way to put it.
ocul- have you seen his wife? Trump likes women with bones sticking out everywhere.
GordonO - honored to have you here.
JLee - silly, in the scheme of things, except for the young girls who watch this stuff and learn - that makes it all the more sad.
Tim - betting that is partially true.
Dorinda - as a society, a big society, we are obsessed with all things like that. I don't know why either. Or I could guess, but then I would have to have a whole lot of chocolate to cheer up and that wouldn't be good.
fins2 - agreed. CP is a happy girl today and the Trump is probably having a good day as well. As a Californian, I am not especially - she is a pretty big embarrassment to sane folk.

really deborah, gordon... can you parse out what miss california said?
"CARRIE: I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman."
it sounds like she would legalize gay marriage, since she said "We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage". i do wish wanda sykes would have said something at the roast to the president, because he did say that gay people should not be entitled to marriage rights fairly clearly. i was disappointed.
but more than anything, what is it with republicans and beauty queens? what she said was idiotic, and you've made her a hero. i guess we all see what we want to see.

"But both Trump and Prejean each made one good point when they took the podium: The beauty queen's position on same-sex marriage, which is what started the firestorm of controversy surrounding her, isn't substantively different from President Obama's. He, too, publicly opposes same-sex marriage, favoring civil unions instead." Alex Koppelman, Front page Salon article.

Trump is loving this. The Miss USA pageant has been loosing viewer for decades. It's called free press and it will boost viewership.
As for Miss California. Her position on Gay marriage is the same as Obama, Hillary Clinton and the majority of voters in California. It may have created a shit storm in Hollywood, but outside of the gay community nobody cares what Miss California thinks about gay marriage.
The right wants to make Miss California their poster girl for marriage, and the left wants to act like she is the only person in California opposed to gay marriage, the rest of us don't really care much either way.

I truly don't understand. First off, she didn't start the controversy, this Perez guy, who's only talent seems to be looking like a scary clown and saying obnoxious things, did. Why would you ask such a question in a beauty pageant? And then base your score of her on whether she gave the answer you wanted? He asked her a question, she didn't just bring it up out of the blue. He asked a stupid question, she answered it as best she could. If he didn't want the answer he shouldn't have asked the question. Miss California's answer is, apparently, the same answer given by the majority of voters in California just last Nov.
Are we really so intolerant that no one is allowed to honestly disagree anymore?
Are we so left leaning that we will condem this young woman for her very politely expressed view but won't condem this Perez guy for calling her a "bitch" and a" cunt"?
It seems we on the left, who "preach" tolerance and acceptance are way over due for a reality check..
